Mission Statement

Why does Elizabeth Hodge Occupational Therapy exist?

Occupation- focussed therapy to help you live an abundant life.

My mission as a freelance OT is to provide an occupational therapy service free from the constraints of statutory provision. Whilst I remain bound by my professional code of conduct and ethics, I am able to provide a truly holistic occupational therapy service unlike many OTs who are shoehorned into other roles these days. I passionately believe in the power of occupational therapy, having witnessed it professionally and personally. I believe that everyone should be able to access a full range of occupational therapy services in order that they might participate fully in life.

Remaining freelance allows me to concentrate on occupation, something that has been fundamental to occupational therapy since its conception, but is often times lost in the modern practice world. I am not tied to addressing daily living skills that are tied to survival; instead I am free to address all aspects including leisure or spiritual. Every area of life is affected when your occupational performance is impaired for any reason, not just your ability to cook a meal or wash and dress yourself. I recognise this and can provide a service tailored to your needs. I firmly believe in people doing, being and becoming the best person they can be (Ann Wilcock 1999).

  • I aim to provide excellent, yet sensitive teaching to enable clients to learn and sustain skills and help them meet their goals.
  • I aim to stay up-to-date with current practice and to offer high quality interventions.
  • I hope to create a supportive environment and strive to treat every client as I would treat a member of my own family, with care and compassion.
